Investigator of the Year Award 2016
Thomas Boyles – San Bernardino County DA
Tom Boyles began his law enforcement career with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office, and was hired as a San Bernardino County DA Investigator in 2007. Tom was assigned to trial prep duties where he excelled. Tom teaches various courses to high school and college students and is involved in various community events and teaches at the USMC sergeant school in 29 Palms. Tom is a retired USMC Master Gunnery Sergeant and is presently a Supervising Investigator assigned to the County’s regional auto theft taskforce. In December 2015, Tom was one of the law enforcement officers that responded to an active shooter incident at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino. Tom was part of the team that was responsible for locating and stopping the husband/wife team responsible for the murder of 14 and shooting of an additional 22 County employees holding a meeting at the facility.
Each year, the California District Attorney Investigators’ Association presents the Joe McClure Investigator of the Year Award to an investigator. This award was established by the Association to recognize outstanding achievement by a District Attorney Investigator as voted upon by the Association. This award acknowledges exemplary work by the nominee in promoting and maintaining the highest in standards of a District Attorney Investigator for that year.
This award was named in honor of Joe McClure, first president of this Association in 1956.
